North Coast Island Trail: This is a flat rail trail , starting in Elyria, going to Oberlin, and ending in Kipton. The paving is twelve foot wide asphalt, thirteen miles in length. There is parking and water at the town park in Kipton. The park is where the trail crosses Rt. 511. E.C.

The Greater Cleveland Area: The Greater Cleveland Area has several great places to roller ski, primarily in what are referred to as the Cleveland Metroparks and Lake Metropark Systems. For West Siders of Cleveland, the Rocky River Reservation in Rocky River is probably the most accessible. One shares a 15 mile double lane bicycle path with pedestrians and bikers, but people are considerate, and, most often, politely curious about one's skis. The only real drawback is that the trail runs through some low lying areas adjacent to the Rocky River, and in the Spring, the area is subject to floods, which cover the roads and trails with mud and sand, but from mid to late summer one skis unimpeded. Access is gained from many points, but the trailhead is located on the town line of Rocky River and Lakewood, just off Detroit Road. For East Siders, the most enjoyable roller ski areas are probably located in Lake County, in the City of Willoughby Hills. The North Chagrin Reservation off Routes 6 and 91, contains more than 5 miles of bicycle trail, on gently rolling hills. Access is gained from either 91 or 6, and trails are usually not very crowded. Again, passers by are polite and curious. Derek Svoren
